The Danscompany of Gainesville is a dedicated group of more than 80 volunteer dancers whose membership is secured through competitive auditions each year. The Danscompany of Gainesville presents two annual performances at the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, located on the University of Florida campus. Cinderella is a full length family ballet that is performed during the December holiday season. This magical fairy tale comes to life with beautiful dancing, costumes, staging all in a timeless love story. The Danscompany of Gainesville also puts on the Spring Concert and The Wiz, a combined jazz show, featuring the lyrical and modern talents of this diverse company.
“Chance to Dance” is a program started in the mid-90s through a grant funded by the City of Gainesville Department of Cultural Affairs. Through this program, The Danscompany of Gainesville presents performances and teaches dance to children who may not otherwise have to opportunity to participate in such an enriching activity. Because of continued support from the city, Chance to Dance will maintain its partnership with the Performing Arts Magnet program at Duval Elementary School throughout another school year.

Her rich and diverse background in dance includes positions as Area Director of Dance Masters of America and the Director of the Florida competition for Mr. and Miss Dance. Her involvement in Florida Dance Masters, Inc. includes serving as second Vice President, President, Past President, and Convention Manager. Ms. Cameron has served as a faculty member of the State Dance Association and teaching assistant at Walt Disney World. She was also appointed to serve as an Area Director to the American Jazz Dance Council. As a former Artistic Director of the Junior and Apprentice groups of another local dance company, she choreographed numerous dance pieces, building her repertoire.
Nina has shared both her talents and love of dance with her students for over 36 years. But even as a teacher, Nina is an enduring student. She continues her study of dance attending numerous dance workshops nationwide and is pleased to share new techniques and developments with her students.
Chrysalis

The Danscompany of Gainesville also provides the opportunity to participate in numerous performances to younger dancers who have shown the technical ability, attitude, maturity, and commitment to the art of dance. The Chrysalis Company is the newest wing of Danscompany of Gainesville and members are selected by the teachers. Linda Thomas serves as the Artistic Director for the Chrysalis Company. She brings her patience and skill to these young dancers as she nurtures their love of dance while introducing them to the rigors of being members of a dance company.
